Merry Christmas everyone

Christmas was a quiet affair this year. We missed the Christmas service in church which was the Sunday before Christmas as baby Sophie was sick. And since we had no plans for Christmas day, baby Sophie celebrated her first Christmas with Daddy and Mummy at home. The whole family was decked out in Christmas hats and we took some family photo shoots.

Hit by the flu bug

The flu bug surfaced at home last week and all of us fell sick. It started with Alexis then me and eventually Sophie was also down. It was the all works of cough, flu and sore throat for the adults. And poor baby Sophie had the occasional fever too as her body battled her first illness. Naturally she was irrated and uncomfortable by what was happening to her body, so for some days she was extra cranky and difficult. As a result, both Alexis and myself were also tired out from her crying and more frequent waking in the nights.

I cant say how much it means to me that Alexis is a hands on Dad and took over to take care of Sophie when I'm left drained and tired. No wait, he also helped with the housework which I'm very appreciative of too. And yes finally I'm most thankful for him putting up with my lack of patience and occassional flare ups when it just got all too over whelming for me. So for this, thank u dear!

Praise God Sophie's much better after a week and is back to the infant care centre today. But while she was ill, I kept asking myself if leaving her at the ifc is really good for her. Of course, I was told to be prepared that she will get sick sometime down the road. But to be sick in just one week? There's no denying that she could have also caught it from either of us too since we were down and out ourselves.

And so the dilemia starts all over again.... Especially with recent news that my office may soon shift out of Raffles Place, I wonder if its still viable putting her at the ifc since I will not be able to see her so often. Of course, not forgetting the fact that it will be entirely on Alexis to bring her to and fro and ifc.... What should we do, what should we do...

Shall not worry too much about the future and enjoy her as much as I can now.

Looking cute even though she's sick.
Such a darling :)

Sophie goes to Infant Care

Now that I'm back to work, Sophie is in the infant care centre for the day. And I'm glad to say that the first week went quite well. Though there were some adjustments for her, being in a new environment, not having mummy by her side all the time and being cared for by others for the first wee, she seems to be adapting well and has even made some friends.

The reason for putting her in the infant care is because my mom has a dog in her place. And for those that know me, I don't just dislike dogs, I'm really quite scared of them. Regardless of my mom's claims that her dog is well behaved and all, there is no way Sophie is going near her dog, especially since it sheds so much fur. As for the option of leaving her at my in laws, we figured the traveling time just makes it tiring for everyone especially when it can be almost half an hour for just one way.

Anyway the best part of having her just opposite my office makes it so much easier for me to drop by and visit her during lunch time and sometimes during my teabreaks and after I pump. Just to know and see that she's near by makes separation anxiety for this mummy a thing of the past :)

I recall the 2nd day when I left her at the infant care for the afternoon and went out for a movie with Alexis, I was actually crying in the theatre because I was so worried about her adjusting to the place and not having me around and if she was receiving enough attention form the caregivers. Of course it didn't help that she wasnt taking her naps well for the first 2 days and that made me question our choice. But as the days pass, she started to take to the caretakers and was sleeping better and even started to drinks up to 150ml for her feeds! I was of course happy since I was complaining that she was only drinking a max of 120ml and not putting on as much weight as I wished.

Now when I visit her, she's usually in a good mood, smiling and talking away to the teachers and even to the other babies there. I even joked that she has a new BFF there, another baby who's a month older than her by the name of Ashley that she usually "talks" to. The teachers are so funny and feels that the two of them looks a little similar too. Hopefully as she grows up there, she'll learn to be more independent and more sociable too.

My Babbling Darling

At 16 weeks, Sophie has started to be more talkative. Her talk or rather babble is really cute and boy is she one big chatter! Most of the times, she amuses me when she starts talking and at times she also exasperates me when she starts to "complain". How do I know when she's complaining? You can tell it from her expression and tone which is sometimes still funny. She'll complain when she gets bored, when she wants to be carried or simply just wanting some attention from us.

But what gets to me is when she wants to have a conversation with me when I'm feeing her *faints* And when I do show her my angry face (and a bit of an animated angry face) she laughs at me, like I was trying to humor her. Which of course makes this mother break into a smile as well.

Time flies and next week she'll turn 4 months. Which also means that its the end of my 4 months of maternity leave. (Probably the best thing from the govt for working moms) I can still remember it was only last year in Dec that I found out I was pregnant and fast forward one year later, Sophie's already 4 months!

I simply love all the time I spent with her and this week I totally maximized the last week of freedom and went out everyday! And on Monday, Alexis even took leave to go out with me and baby Sophie to celebrate a very special moment for him. The first time that Sophie called him Daddy! We figured she was just repeating it and don't know what it means yet, but how's that for a 16 week old that knows how to call Daddy. But that also means it was pretty much a once off thing and we haven't had much luck hearing her call Daddy again. This little girl sure knows the way to her Daddy's heart. What a Daddy's girl :)

When will you call Mummy, my darling?

Mummy's pride

A mother's pride in the simple things that Sophie does

- Being a brave girl when she took her jabs at 3 months plus a jab for pneumococcal both on the same day on both thighs. She cried after the first one and stopped in less then a minute and when the 2nd one came down she cried and stopped after a while. Even the nurse was surprised by her. Mummy comforted her by nursing her and she was even okay to go shopping after that.

- Being able to sleep thru the night by week 12. Maybe other babies learnt this earlier but my dear baby Sophie is also sleeping through the night sooner than most other babies. Sure there are days when she wakes up in the middle of the night. But usually she's able to go straight to bed after feeding her too. Cant say how thankful this mummy is for more beauty sleep.

- Being able to sleep on her own .... most of the time. I used to complain that she sleeps too much, then too little (no thanks to the renovation works going on in my block). And now she can go to sleep pretty much unassisted. Of course there are days when she still needs a pat or a hug on a bad day. But thankfully these days are not so common now.

- Sophie's also a good girl when she's out with Daddy and Mummy. Well most of the time she's sleeping in her pram so save us from being too pre-occupied when mummy zips from shop to shop enjoying her retail therapy. If she cries, it's usually coz she's hungry. But when she's out,she can easily last for 4 to 5 hours! Like last Friday when she took almost 5 hours of nap in the day! Well we knew it will be a long night and she only slept at 1plus am.

- Sophie is getting more and more responsive now at 3 months. This little one is charming everyone with her smiles and her coos. She loves it when she's the centre of attraction and people are talking or playing with her. Today at church she got so excited that she started to "talk" quite loudly when a little girl was playing with her. The little girl was a little shy at first then later told me that baby's cute! Cant wait for Sophie to learn to crawl and walk and talk.

Sophie turns 3 months

It's fast how baby Sophie is growing. Hubby and I were reminiscing the times when she was still a new born. And almost a blink of an eye she has turned 3 months this week. How I will miss her development when I return to work next month.

New things that she's doing now
1. Talking- Well not exactly in the language that we speak but in her own baby language. In her Ohhs and Ahhs and Urrss... She loves to talk especially to her cot mobile friends. You can see how excited she gets too. I never get bored listening to her though I don't understand a word she says. She likes to be involved in our conversations now and will respond when we speak animatedly to her. And she also has different voices when she whines and complains too.

2. Pulling her shirt/ shorts- her sense of touch is improving and can hold things in her hands. Not sure if this is done consciously or just by fluke. But sometimes she catches her soiled diaper when I change her and will kena scolding from mummy.

3. Learning to sleep on her own for day and night-When she was about 6 weeks, she started to get very colicky and would cry for hours on end especially during the evenings. Now that she's turned 3 months, or the magical month, that has improved a lot and so has her sleeping. She used to sleep for as little as 10-15 mins for a nap, but this has slowly lengthened now. So hopefully as she grows older, it will length to the ideal 1 and a half hour. That would be no doubt useful especially when I get back to work and have to do the housework on my own next time.

Not much flipping going on yet, so perhaps she's developing in areas that women are better at, communication skills aka talking! Haha.

Sophie's first haircut & swim

Sophie had her first haircut ... or rather shave on Tuesday (27 Aug). We figured that with the cradle cap, we might as well shave off her hair to give her scalp more breathing space. So it was off to Baby Spa at Plaza Singapura.

Initially she was none the wiser and sat there patiently while the mummy started singing to distract her.

Slowly but surely she realized that something was amiss literally..her hair!

Later it was off to her first swim. See she's got a pink float around her neck.

She's quite a natural at it and really enjoyed herself thoroughly. She got herself quite an audience when she was swimming. Think she was showing off too. Haha

Sophie's new trick

Sophie has learnt a new trick yesterday- sucking her fist!

We noticed that she has a tendency to suck and will sometimes suck my shoulder or arm when I carry her so we decided offered her the pacifier. After all, I don't think a sweaty shoulder or arm taste very nice. She didn't take to it at first and so we "help" her suck her fist but bringing it to her mouth. But since she didn't have control over her hands, we'll sometimes alternate between her fist and pacifier to get her sucking motion going. So that's how the pacifier slowly worked .

Yesterday, I realised she was able to aim her fist at her mouth and was sucking very hard on it and she seemed to be enjoying it very much. She started with right fist and now can suck on the left one too.
Last night when she woke up in her cot in the middle of the night, I could hear her happily sucking on her fist. It's certainly a very funny sight that you can witness from the video and I'm glad she dun have to rely on us to pop the pacifier in for her anymore and can self soothe herself back to sleep now. Yet another milestone for Sophie.

Week 10

Recently Sophie has been charming everyone with her smiles. Occassionally she'll break into laughter when we sing or make silly sounds at her. I think the little one is very entertained that she's got all these adults wrapped around her little finger.

Sophie and her ipod!

We've got quite a few things around the house to keep her up during her activity time. One of them is her play mat. It has toys that dangle above her so that she can look at them and slowly encourage her to reach out to touch them with her hands. So far, this has not happened yet. But I noticed that she likes 2 of the toys, one is a bunny that I call Mr Rabbit and the other... I call it a red heart that squeaks when you press it.

So everyday I lay her down on the mat and play with her. Sometimes she gets her tummy time on it too. But I think she's not a fan of tummy time as she looks so uncomfortable there. Nevertheless, it's good for training her to lift her head.

The little one has also started to babble back at you when we talk to her. Her Ohhs and Ahhs are still random but I like to think that she wants to be included in our conversations... I wonder what will be her first word. Will it be Mama or Papa?

Baby Routine

Before Sophie was born, we have decided that we don't want to have our lives run by our little one and concluded that having a routine will be best for everyone. So we poured through books by authors like Gina Ford, Tracy Hogg who are advocates of implementing routines for babies.

However we didn't stick to the plan the day we got home as we had a confinement nanny around. She is of the opinion that babies should sleep as much as they can as they need it for their development. But Sophie was an extremely sleepy baby who slept more than the regular baby. And also her feeding was pretty much on demand basis, though she was drinking well and her weight gain was on track.

Sophie managed to sleep thru the night by the 2nd month, waking mostly around 5,6 ish. But one bad thing was her sleep association, always had to be carried, rocked..etc. Initially we thought it could be colicky. But on hind sight, it didn'e seem to be so decided to implement a routine, hoping that it can change some of her sleep associations.

Day one of the Routine - 12/10 (Monday)
7:15- Surprise, surprise Sophie managed to wake up at 7:15 as scheduled. After taking her milk and getting her diapers changed, I kept her busy on her playmat and played music for her on her new toy.
8:30- Put to sleep on her cot
10:00- Baby up by 10:05 and drank her milk, followed by a bath at 1035
11:15- Drank milk and slept again at 11:25
2:00- Long nap of almost one and half hours and woke up to drink milk, followed by play time
3:00 - Getting sleepy and slept at 3:30. But up after 15 mins
4:25- Feeding time then went for a stroll
6:05- Started to get fussy so fed put down to sleep at 6:35. Then the sleep battle began with crying... finally slinged her to sleep at 8:45
8:50- Woke up for milk shortly with a top-up of expressed breast milk
9:30- Back to lalaland
12:35am- First attempt at a dream feed and it was a success! Sophie drank 70ml and hit the sack immediately after that.

Best thing? She lasted till 6am for milk the next day. I'm so proud of her :)

Verdict at the end of Day one?
She went down pretty okay for the day naps and only started fussing at the night. Which is very common. So all in all, not bad I would say.

Shall continue and see what happens tomorrow.

Toys Galore for baby Sophie

For 2 month old Sophie, these are the things that she'll learn to play with...
  • She kicks and waves her arms when she is excited. This uses the same movement as stepping. It is easier to lift heavy legs when lying flat.
  • She smiles directly at people and expects to be given her turn in "conversations."
  • She can learn that one event follows another.
  • She learns to make things happen.
  • She can locate a sound in front of her, but not one behind; she turns to the correct side if she hears a sound, but cannot locate it.

Today Daddy applied for half day leave to accompany Mummy to buy toys for Sophie. There was this Mattel warehouse sales and they came home with many good buys.

Laugh & Learn™ Learning Music Player™
Laugh & Learn Learning Toolbench
Little Superstar 2-in-1 Singing Band Walker
Fisher-Price Open Top Take-Along Swing

Daddy thinks that the swing is the best buy because he can leave me in here when I get fussy. $60 very well spent! Total Damage today: $190 :P

Mummy shall look out for the next sale to buy me more toys! Daddy and Mummy are the best :)

Sleeping Beauty

Mummy's nick name for me is Sleeping Beauty because I'm sleeping most of the time. Unlike other babies that likes to wake up to play, I prefer to sleep. Sleeping even beats drinking milk and I'll sometimes fall asleep half way drinking mik.

Mummy used to think it's because I'm slightly premature being born in the 37th week. But she has found out that other babies born in the 37th week can be very awake and alert. Conclusion, I think I take after my Daddy in this aspect.

I especially like to sleep when I'm out with Daddy and Mummy. Not that Mummy minds cos it leaves her with time to go shopping :) The only downside is once I realise I'm hungry, I want my milk NOW!

But recently I'm learning to be more awake because I'm growing day and day and want to explore and see more of this world that I'm born in. So let me enjoy more of my sleep first...Zzzzz

Mummy and her new friends

Mummy made some new friends from the Singapore Motherhood forum and she brought me out to meet her new friends and other babies born in the month of August like me on the 1st of Oct.

As usual I was fast asleep...

Mummy was quite brave since this was the first time she has gone out alone with me. All thanks to the sling that made it possible for her to be so mobile. Even Daddy has learnt how to use the sling now.

Still sleeping...Zzzz

Mummy with other fellow mummies

Mummy was the envy of other mummies as I was fast alseep and did not fuss or cry like other babies who needed to be fed, changes, walked, etc. But little did they know that I was a naughty girl later that evening when I didn't sleep in the night...Mummy hopes that I can be a good girl both outside and at home too so that I can truly be an angel baby.

Sophie's 5 weeks old

Dear Sophie is now 5 weeks old...seems like a long long way to go.

Sophie is starting to get more responsive now. Her eyes will follow you when you talk to her and she sometimes breaks into a smile when she's entertained like when someone's playing with her. It's a really cute sight.

But there are days like last night when she simply refused to sleep. Tried everything from feeding her to cuddling her, carrying her and rocking her, changing her diapers but cant stop her crying each time we lay her on her cot... Poor Daddy ended up being so tired that he had to retreat so that he could catch some sleep. She finally gave in and slept through the night after her milk.

But I figured it may be because of the food that I ate outside yesterday. After all I've been used to having nutritious home cooked meals for one whole month. Yesterday ate out and even had KFC spicy wings, which may have given Sophie an upset tummy too.

So I got to be more careful with that I eat now, especially since I'm breastfeeding her. Yet another sacrifice that Mummy has to make for dear Sophie.

The things that Sophie does

Sophie's turning one month this Sunday. And to celebrate the happy occasion, we're throwing her a baby shower.

At 3 weeks plus, she's already developed quite a character and does some really funny things.

1. There's the Houdini act that she does when she struggles out of even when she's tightly swaddled. Don't estimate the strength she has a a little baby. Despite looking all tiny and frail, she sure is capable of kicking up a fuss when she wails.

2. For some strange reason, she likes to stick out her tongue. And this often gets mistaken that she's hungry and worse greedy like mummy. *Gasp the horror* But whatever it is, it sure is not a pretty sight for such a sweet little girl like her. Hopes she stops doing that soon.

3. And besides sticking out her tongue, she also likes to play with her saliva forming bubbles in her mouth. Especially so when she's given the pacifier, which I've only tired once coz I suspect she was only being "sucky".

4. Sophie has some of the most classic expressions. One moment, she can scrunch up her face and turn all red like she's about to burst into tears, the next moment she just relaxes and gives a huge yawn instead. When she's feeding, she can sometimes smile and that sight really melts my heart, like it's all worth it.

5. And to most amusing thing about my little Sophie is that she shits damn loud! When we were at the pediatrician last week, she shat so loud that the receptionist pointed me to the changing room so that we could change her out of her soiled diapers. How embarrassing... for the mummy. Gotta teach the little lady some manner soon.

So that's my little darling for you.

Growth spurts

Day 10

Sophie seems to be experiencing growth spurts on day 10. She kept fussing and refused to drink.. spent almost half an hour just trying to get her to drink...

Tested my patience... but reminded myself that she is only a baby and totally dependent on me. When I see her happily drinking, it makes me happy.

Such is a Mother's love.

Announcing the arrival of Sophie

Princess Sophie was born on the 9th of August 2009.

Birth story
On 08 August, Saturday, we went for our last appointment with the gyne expecting to deliver on 12 August, Wednesday. However the check up showed that my blood pressure was too high and there was too much protein in my urine. The only way to bring it down was to deliver the baby. But when the gyne suggested to do it on the same day,I totally freaked out coz I felt so unprepared! So bargained to wait till the next day. Thankfully the results from the blood test showed that I could still delay for one more day. And so the waiting begins...

I had to be admitted into the hospital for observation on the same day and every now and then the nurses will take my blood pressure and temperature. The operation was scheduled at 11am so all the waiting gave me time to prepare myself mentally for Sophie while Alexis went home to get my bag. Had my dinner and then fasted for the op tomorrow. Despite being very nervous initially, I managed to have a good sleep. After all it may be the last of my good nights when Sophie is here.

The next morning, I was all ready and excited. I'm finally going to see my dear daughter whom I've been carrying for the past 37 and half weeks. I was wheeled into the operating theater and given an injection to my spine to keep my lower body numb for the operation so that Alexis could be beside me to witness the birth of Sophie.

In less then half an hour,Sophie was delivered at 11:23am.

Happy parents with baby Sophie

Sleeping so peacefully

And so the story of Sophie Tay Jiaxuan begins...

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Sophie is going to arrive earlier than expected!

Today was our last visit to the gyne but my blood pressure was too high, that triggered a condition called pre-eclampsia. In addition, there was too much protein in my urine. The gyne advised us to have Sophie delivered today but we were totally unprepared and asked for the op tomorrow instead.

So my dear baby Sophie is going to be a National Day baby, with her birthday on 09/08/09!

Final week countdown

It's officially one more week to the arrival of baby Sophie. How exciting.

Sophie's door sign

The past 8 and half months have passed by so quickly. From the time we found out I was pregnant in Dec and fast forward 8 months to August, baby is all ready to be born.

What a journey this has been.
Keep reminding myself that it's nothing short of God's grace for the easy pregnancy. And will continue to rely on His strength to get through the sleepless nights and the next phase of our lives being parents to Sophie.

One more last visit to the gyne on Saturday then we're all ready for Sophie on 12 Aug.

Cant wait to see you baby!

She twists and she turns...

Sophie is no doubt getting bigger and bigger. This week, she is approaching week 36!

At Week 36

Sophie is growing and growing and growing- at the rate of about an ounce a day. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

This is a sight you definitely not want to see... It's so un-cute, so un-baby like... :P

At the end of this week, Sophie will be considered full-term. But it doesn't feel like baby has been engaged yet. The anticipation is so unnerving... Wonders if Sophie will arrive earlier than expected.

Despite the nursery being all ready, her clothes all washed, my hospital being 80% packed, I still feel so unprepared mentally for what's to come. Probably just as a friend commented, its the same feeling with marriage. You can never be fully ready, so just ride the bumps along the way and enjoy the process!

Preparing for your arrival

The date has been set and the room's all ready.

Mummy and Daddy are all excited about your arrival.
The reality of us being parents is slowly sinking in.

A new chapter of our lives is slowly unfolding.

Something good is happening soon on 12 August 2009!

Who will Sophie look like?

This is the scan of Sophie taken at 32 weeks. According to the gyne, she's growing well... growing very very well. Haha. She already weighs 1.8kg which is a tad too big. Hmm I think she should be fine. But unfortunately the mummy is also gaining too much weight too. 3 kgs from the last visit :P *faints* So I gotta watch my weight more carefully from now on.
Have selected the date for Sophie's birthday, 12 August 2009. No special reason. Just that the gyne said the earliest I can deliver Sophie is on 11 August but I prefer if its a even number date.
  • 13 August, nah.
  • 14 August, nah. Mom being a Cantonese was like don't choose "14".
Anyway personally, the earlier the better coz I cant wait to see her.

Today Sophie was sleeping when the gyne did the scan. Then she opened her mouth to swallow the amniotic fluid. So cute! Haha. She has already turned downwards and her legs are sticking up at my ribs. That explains why I get kicked so hard in the ribs, especially in the night. She sure is fighting for space now as she grows bigger by bigger by the day.

Oh and the reason for the title of this blog is because I think Sophie's gonna look like Daddy. Check out the lips from the picture!

The weekly class that traumatize the Daddy

Once a week, we'll attend the a class that leaves Alexis feeling very uncomfortable... You see it's our prenatal class where the mystery of how babies are delivered are revealed with no holds bar.

Last week, there was a video on the different pain relief administered before delivery and he squirmed at the thought of having a thick needle up one's spine when it came to epidural. I can only turn around and tell him, "Be thankful you don't have to go through it."

This week, the lecturer pushed his threshold by showing us videos of the delivery process. You can imagine the faces of the dads and moms alike. All not quite prepared of what may come. While there's no denying that all the mothers had nothing but pure joy on their faces the moment they see their babies emerge into the world, it was also very very painful to watch them as they huffed and puffed during labor. Shall not go into the gory details..

I get mixed feelings if I should be thankful that I have to deliver Sophie via C-section. In some way, I don't get to experience birth pains that almost 85% of moms go through. But on the other hand, I rather be knocked out and not know what happened to me and just be greeted by baby when it's time.

Alexis had a funny thought to ask the gyne if we can go into the operating theater watching an episode of Heros or some show on his hp while she does her job to keep my mind off what goes behind the screen. I have a feeling she may laugh at my ridiculous question...

Sophie at 7 months

Was in very good spirits as we went for my monthly routine check up coz Hubby and I just celebrated our 3rd year anniversary the day before.

Sophie's 28 weeks and in just another 2 and half more months, she'll be all ready to greet the world! This month, Sophie already weighs 1.086 kg. So that's slightly on the heavier side. Hope she don't grow toooo big else means mummy will also carry more weight :P

After the check up, my mom accompanied me for some major shopping for Sophie. Bought a lot of the basic necessities like clothes for new born, long sleeves, short sleeves, shorts, long pants, PJs, nappies, mittens and booties, dresses, etc. So much clothes, she wun be running around naked.

Pretty dresses for Sophie

Sophie is born in the year of the Moo Moo

After this round of shopping, the next round will be buying stuffs like the furniture, playpen, baby bouncer, and many other misc stuffs. So fun preparing for your arrival Sophie dear.

With just another 2 and a half more months, I need to catch up on my reading too. Currently reading "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer." by Tracy Hoggs. Interesting read where the author advocates the need to incorporate a new baby into the family's routine. Many have raved that her methods have worked, especially on putting baby to sleep, so I'm all in!

For my darling

I'm fast approaching my 7th month of pregnancy this week. This marks the last lap, the 3rd trimester. Thank God that all has been well and while I could really do away with the leg cramps, the tiredness, the occasional aches in the back, I have much to be thankful for.

It's so heartwarming that we're not the only ones looking forward to the arrival of Sophie. At Melvin's and Ruth's wedding yesterday, we caught up with so many friends and they too share in our joy.

Baby on board sign for Sophie. In the most expected color, pink no less :)

This is going to be Sophie's first toy and best companion with her in the pram in future. At the back of the tag it says, "I'll be your friend. Wherever you go, I'll be right by your side."

25 weeks pregnant

See what Sophie can do at 25 weeks:
Your baby is responsive to touch now. You can have fun with baby by trying to tickle her foot when she kicks you or by lying on your back and rolling from side to side, to see how she reacts. Her eyelids open around now and her heart is beating so strongly, it may be heard with a stethoscope.

Hmm not sure how to tickle her foot through my tummy...Wonder if she will giggle or give me a kick in return!

Went for our monthly check up today and here's a video of what Sophie was up to.

Can you spot her heart beating?

The gyne commented that Sophie is growing well. Her estimated fetal weight is now at 603 grams. A healthy weight for her at 6 months. Thank God that all has been well in my pregnancy so far. Cant wait to meet my little princess :)

My name is Sophie

Before Daddy and Mummy found out that I was a girl, they already poured through books and websites to search for a name for me. So by the 5th month, they've already shortlisted a few names.

- Sophie or Chloe if I were a girl
- Bryan or Ian if I were a boy

The reason for these names is because mummy liked the meaning of these names and the associations with these names. Oh and not forgetting that these are more
"current" baby names from my generation :) so I don't follow in mummy's footsteps, heh.

Oh and why these names?
Sophie- means Wisdom
Chloe- means Blooming
Both these names brings to mind a very sweet-natured little girl and what the names mean are traits that Daddy and Mummy hope I grow up with. Mummy personally thinks that these are names for cuties like me too.

In the end, Daddy and Mummy decided that they will name me Sophie Tay so that I'll live up to my name as a young lady of wisdom.
